Subaru of America recently announced that they will be stopping sales on the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid for the 2017 model year. The Crosstrek Hybrid was actually Subaru’s first hybrid to be mass produced. It’s great on gas and still has all the features you have come to enjoy with Subaru vehicles like amazing on and off-road performance. Does this mean it didn’t sell well? No, not at all. Subaru’s motive for stopping production on the Crosstrek Hybrid is most likely due to the global platform being implemented into Subaru’s lineup.
[rev_slider crosstrekhybrid]
Now this may be the end of the Crosstrek Hybrid, but Subaru may still have a few Hybrid models up their sleeve. Jeff Walters, executive vice president of sales, explained “We are currently working on a new hybrid vehicle, although it is too early to discuss specifics.” It’s too early to tell what Walters is referring to exactly but some enthusiasts are already up in arms about the news.
Subaru’s goal is to move to a global platform for their vehicles. The new platform was designed to include PHEV and electric vehicles. Crash absorption has improved by 40% with the new platform and Subaru has even increased the rigidity of the body structure by over 70%! Combine the new platform with Subaru’s award winning All-wheel drive system, EyeSight capabilities and we’re looking at a pretty great base for the next generation of Subaru vehicles. If you are even half as excited we are for the next set of models then let us know which 2017/2018 model or concept is your favorite in the comments below.
The folks over at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have recently given their followers the hope that a Ford Raptor competitor is in the works. Many Ram Truck lovers will find this news to be absolutely game changing and there are some Ford lovers that will be making the switch too. So what is all the hype behind the new Ram Rebel TRX Concept?
Performance
Lets imagine for just a moment an off-road capable pickup truck with 575 horses under the hood and 37 inch tires. Combine those ingredients and you are left with a complete animal of a pickup. The concept truck itself is actually a completely working model. It’s been driven over 100 miles per hour on rough terrain. This is mostly due to the updated suspension, the 6.2 Liter HEMI V-8 engine, and the eight-speed automatic transmission.
Competition
With so many manufacturers setting their sights on the high performance off-road truck market we are bound to see many more concepts in due time. The folks over at Ram hope their take on an extreme off-road pickup stands out from the rest but only time will tell. The Ram Rebel TRX is still just a concept so there is still time to see changes. If you could change or add anything what would you add to the Ram Rebel TRX? Let us know in the comments below!

If you have been watching the news or perhaps you’ve even visited New York City recently you may have noticed a little snow on one corner but none on the next. This as well as a Jeep Wrangler being suspended from a building. You are probably expecting to read about some protest being held where they suspend a Jeep Wrangler until something is changed. However, that is not the case, the source of the snow as well as the suspended jeep happens to be apart of an advertising campaign held for the new “Rise of the Tom Raider” coming out for PS4.
please excuse the low quality of the image below.
You may be asking yourself, why in the world would a company suspend a 2,000 lbs vehicle above moving traffic in such a populated city? Well, it is simple, for a video game of course! The newest addition to the Tomb Raider series will be here on October 11th. The best part about the suspended Jeep is that once the game launches on of it’s lucky players will actually get to take the Jeep home! The best part is that this isn’t a prank. The cables and billboard have been approved by the FDNY as well as other city officials. The billboard and Jeep will only be up during October so be sure to enter for your chance to win!
If you could care less about the launch of Rise of The Tomb Raider and you are in the market for a new Jeep Wrangler of your own please feel free to view our inventory here. The 2017 Nissan GT-R has arrived and it’s better than ever before! Since there really isn’t much room to improve on performance the 2017 Nissan GT-R brings forth small changes that improve the quality of driving but believe it or not the 2017 Nissan GT-R has changed more in this model year than ever before. Everything from aerodynamics to the new tech included in the 2017 Nissan GT-R has been updated for this model year. You may not be able to spot the changes immediately as the look of the vehicle is generally the same, it’s what was changed under the hood that really matters. Find out more about the 2017 Nissan GT-R in the video below from our friends over at The Motor Trend Channel.
If that wasn’t enough for you check out some of the key features of the brand new 2017 Nissan GT-R below.
Exterior
REDESIGNED REAR END
The GT-R’s rear end has been elongated on the sides to redirect the air away from the end of the bumper, keeping hot gases away, to assist in cooling the exhaust.
NEW SIDE SKIRTS AND C-PILLAR
When air is drawn underneath the vehicle many issues may arise especially at high speeds. That is why the area around the C-Pillar has been reworked to help reduce turbulence, and to send the air flow to the end of the body.
AN UPDATED FRONT END
With the new grille and larger grille openings the key components are allowed even more airflow than before. The front end of the vehicle has been reshaped and it now directs more air to the front wheels to help reduce drag.
Interior
SEMI-ANILINE SOFT TOUCH LEATHER INTERIOR
The 2017 Nissan GT-R is available with semi-aniline soft touch leather on the door panels, center console, shift knob, and of course the seats. If you’re looking for a new world of comfort then this is definitely a must have.
Performance
ONE MAN, ONE ENGINE
Every Nissan GT-R houses a hand-built engine that was assigned to a single technician. The engine has a crest on it with the signature of the technician who hand built the engine. The engine is built in a controlled environment much like race cars are.
SHIFTING AT A WHOLE NEW LEVEL
The more a driver is forced to shift, the less time power is being delivered to the wheels. To achieve your fastest lap time take control of the GT-R’s paddle shifted 6 speed dual clutch transmission and listen as the gears change in just 0.15 seconds while in the GT-R’s performance mode, R-Mode.
NISSAN’s 565 HORSE POWER VR38 TWIN TURBO ENGINE
The engine in the 2017 Nissan GT-R was designed to put the vehicle in the same class as the super cars with less weight and much better fuel efficiency. Some call it a win-win for Nissan.
Aerodynamics
ALWAYS IN BETWEEN THE LINES
Take a close look and you can see the time and effort that was put in to redesign the front and rear end of the vehicle. The new design is meant to send more air to the front wheels to reduce drag and to prevent air from being drawn underneath the vehicle, all while keeping the exhaust cool.
REDESIGN THE RULES
One of the main reasons the GT-R sticks to the road so easily, especially at high speeds, is due to the underbody of the vehicle. Unlike your average car the GT-R’s underbody is covered by composite panels which allow more airflow to be directed towards the brakes and the rear diffuser to assist in stopping and gripping the road.
Technology
NISSANCONNECT WITH NAVIGATION AND MORE
The NissanConnect system offers a great way to stay connected while at the wheel. The 8 inch color display serves up important locations like ATMs, restaurants, and gas stations nearby. The voice guided directions will help you get where you need to be without any confusion.
THE SMARTEST KEY
Nissan’s Intelligent Key allows you to simply tap a button on your door handle to unlock and lock your door. Your keys never have to leave your pocket to enter and start the GT-R. Just get in and go!
Safety
REARVIEW MONITORING TO THE NEXT LEVEL
The available RearView Monitoring system displays what is directly behind you and it even includes a wide 180° view for an even better field of vision.
FRONT AND REAR SONAR SENSORS
When you own such a classy and expensive vehicle you don’t want it to suffer any damage. That is why the available front and rear sonar sensors aide you in parking by making a noise when you’re getting a little to close to an object.
HOW MANY AIRBAGS?
Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System provides the driver with dual stage front air bags with seat belt sensors and a passenger classification sensor. The rate at which the airbags deploy at is dependent on the crash severity and more. It is quite the complex safety system.

Has the idea of a new SUV or car popped into your head recently? It may be time to get yourself into a newer more fuel efficient vehicle, especially with the uncertainty of gas prices. It can be quite difficult to find the right vehicle for your situation since there are so many options on the market today. When it comes to fuel efficiency we look to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for their take on specific models before we recommend anything to our customers.
There are tools available like the dynamometer that allow us to test a vehicle’s engine versus one another but this system is very lackluster when it comes to measuring the amount of miles per gallon the vehicle is capable of in real-world situations. The EPA has recently begun running these tests on vehicle with more real-world factors involved like faster acceleration, fast speeds in the city and on the highway, low temperature, and internal devices like the air conditioning. All of these factors affect your vehicle’s MPG rating.
The larger the family grows the more difficult it becomes to manage a proper budget. You are forced to make pretty big decisions for the whole family including what type of vehicle will be used to transport the kiddos. Many things should be taken into consideration when making this decision like the size, the design, convenience features and more.
Whether you’re in the market for a SUV, minivan, or a crossover there are certain features you should take into account when car shopping. Gas mileage is a pretty big deal these days, especially when gas fluctuates at such an extreme rate. Minivans and Crossovers dominate this portion. If you need a fuel-efficient vehicle with more than enough room for the whole family then a minivan may be the direction you should gravitate towards. Now, if you need the capability of an SUV as well as plenty of room a SUV may be your best choice. Compact SUVs can get the job done but if you are looking to tow items or carry a large family they can be problematic in hilly areas, especially in the winter. Crossovers are the middleground. Many crossover models offer the same capability SUVs offer but with a much smaller footprint. This can sometimes be the most economic decision depending on where you live and how large your family is.
While gas mileage may be a key factor in your decision to purchase a vehicle it should not be the primary reason you are making the decision to spend thousands of dollars on a new vehicle. Not filling up as much can add up over time but sometimes a vehicle’s warranty may be worth losing those three or four miles per gallon. Owning a vehicle is a commitment and should be treated like one. When something breaks it is your responsibility to make sure that it gets fixed. While under warranty you can rest assured since the manufacturer has no choice but to cover the costs. Save yourself the headache and look for a vehicle that gets a decent combined MPG but also has a warranty you find acceptable for your use.
The safety rating should be another key factor in your decision to purchase a vehicle for your family. Surely you have heard about SUVs being more likely to roll over in an accident. That sounds pretty terrifying, but realistically you can roll any vehicle. It is completely dependant on just how fast you were going and how the collision itself happened. According to stats gathered back in 2005 by the Insurance institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), large SUVs have one of the lowest mortality rates – roughly 24 people are killed for every million vehicles registered. The does not even come close to the Midsize SUVs average mortality rate of 57 deaths per million, or the 70 deaths per million involved in an accident with a crossover in general.
Purchasing a new vehicle can be a pretty intimidating process. Do your research on a number of vehicles before you make your final decision. Be sure to study the facts rather than the marketing schemes the manufacturers come up with. When it comes down to it, if SUVs were really that bad why would so many people own them? Do your research and you will be fine. If you need assistance finding the perfect vehicle please do not hesitate to reach out to any of our Bertera locations for advice and assistance.
