Subaru is refreshing its mid-size sedan for the year 2023 with a sharper front end, a fresh grille, headlights, and bumper. The sport trim will gain the 260-hp 2.4 liter turbocharged flat-four engine standard. Sales will start this fall; no pricing has been released.

The current Legacy model has been on sale for three years but will receive a fresh look for the 2023 model year. The new Legacy will get revised front-end styling, the latest driver assistance technology and the Sport trim will come with a more powerful turbocharged 2.4-liter engine.

Most obvious will be the changes to the front-end, adding a new trim piece to the grille that will span nearly the width of the car linking the intricate LED headlights. The grille has also got larger, and the front bumper has redesigned fog-lamp housing. The rear end of the 2023 Legacy will remain unchanged.

The 2023 Legacy Sport now comes standard with a 260-hp 2.4-liter turbocharged flat-four, which will be replacing the base engine, the 182-hp 2.5-liter flat-four. Putting more sportiness into the Sport trim. Before the Sport received the upgraded engine, the Legacy took 8.0 seconds to hit 60 MPH, while the turbocharged model hit 60 MPH in 6.1 seconds. The sports model can be noticed by a red accent in the vehicle’s grille, magnetite grey side mirrors, truck spoiler, 18-inch wheels, and two-tone cloth interior with red stitching. The sports trim will also include “sport tuned” suspension.

As before with the current Legacy model, the 2023 Legacy will come standard with Subaru’s Eyesight driver-assistance technology, which includes automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. While other models will also include automatic emergency steering, helping prevent crashes with objects at speeds below 50MPH.

The Sport as well as the Touring XT models will gain a standard 360-degree heated steering wheel, and the interior of the Touring XT trim will now come with Slate Black nappa leather seats with silver stitching, as well as other trim enhancements. The 11.6 touchscreen also comes with wireless Apple Car play and Android Auto as standard. The 2023 Subaru Legacy will hit dealerships this fall, and pricing details should be revealed closer to the on-sale date.

What Is Subaru EyeSight?

Subaru says EyeSight acts as an additional pair of eyes that detect accidents before they happen assisting in preventing them.

These additional “eyes” are two cameras mounted on the windshield on either side of the inside mirror. The visual images as well as other data from the cameras are processed by the vehicle dynamics control modules, engine control and transmission control. This determines when and how to intervene through advanced driver-assistance systems offered by Subaru. This includes precollision braking, precollision throttle management, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist and sway.

EyeSight can detect speed differences with other vehicles up to 30 mph, pedestrian detection and brings the vehicle to a full stop to prevent a collision. The lane assist feature will steer a vehicle back into a lane if EyeSight senses it is drifting across lane markers.

Subaru Eyesight History

Eyesight made its debut back in 2013 as an option on the Outback and Legacy with black-and-white cameras. And was updated for the 2015 model year with color cameras and brake light detection. In 2015 distance detection was increased to 365 feet for a wider detection range. Eyesight has also been modified to work with Subaru’s advanced adaptive cruise control.

EyeSight is standard on the 2021 Ascent, Forester, Legacy and Outback, and included on other models that are equipped with a CVT (continuously variable automatic transmission).

Looking For More Farm Hands!

Last month we were given the opportunity to sponsor a class’ trip to The Red Gate Farm and we couldn’t resist the opportunity! The students from Bowles Elementary School in Springfield had a blast working on the farm. During their visit, they were given the opportunity to participate in a number of activities on the farm including maintaining crops and caring for the farm animals.

The entire class we sponsored received T-shirts during their overnight stay! We genuinely couldn’t be happier to have been given the opportunity to help our community like this.If you’re a local business looking to sponsor a class of your own please feel free to contact Red Gate Farm to learn more! Check out the video below to see what type of activities the kids will be participating in during their visit.

subws_crosstrekhybrid
Subaru of America recently announced that they will be stopping sales on the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid for the 2017 model year. The Crosstrek Hybrid was actually Subaru’s first hybrid to be mass produced. It’s great on gas and still has all the features you have come to enjoy with Subaru vehicles like amazing on and off-road performance. Does this mean it didn’t sell well? No, not at all. Subaru’s motive for stopping production on the Crosstrek Hybrid is most likely due to the global platform being implemented into Subaru’s lineup.
[rev_slider crosstrekhybrid]

Now this may be the end of the Crosstrek Hybrid, but Subaru may still have a few Hybrid models up their sleeve. Jeff Walters, executive vice president of sales, explained “We are currently working on a new hybrid vehicle, although it is too early to discuss specifics.” It’s too early to tell what Walters is referring to exactly but some enthusiasts are already up in arms about the news.

Subaru’s goal is to move to a global platform for their vehicles. The new platform was designed to include PHEV and electric vehicles. Crash absorption has improved by 40% with the new platform and Subaru has even increased the rigidity of the body structure by over 70%! Combine the new platform with Subaru’s award winning All-wheel drive system, EyeSight capabilities and we’re looking at a pretty great base for the next generation of Subaru vehicles. If you are even half as excited we are for the next set of models then let us know which 2017/2018 model or concept is your favorite in the comments below.

SUBWS_2017 impreza

The 2017 Subaru Impreza has been making waves in the media as of late. Whether you have heard of it’s amazing price tag, it’s exceptional new safety tech, or simply just like how the new design looks here is everything you need to know about the all-new 2017 Subaru Impreza!

Let’s start with some of the major changes coming to the Impreza for the 2017 model year. First, the 2017 Impreza is getting bigger! That’s correct, the sporty and often called “Tiny” Subaru has grown. This has been done to provide more interior space as well as aide the vehicle in it’s new global design. Second, fuel efficiency is up! What exactly does that mean? Subaru decided to include a direct-injection engine in the Impreza’s final build which has proven to both increase power and decrease fuel usage. Lastly, Subaru has changed the Impreza platform from the ground up. The new global design will share components between other Subaru models. Oh and did we mention that the Japanese vehicle will be manufactured here in the U.S.?

When Will It Be Here?

The 2017 Subaru Impreza has been completely redesigned. We can expect the new Subarus to start rolling into dealers by at least December. The price is up a few hundred dollars but that is saying a lot when there has been so much added to the new design. If you cannot wait for the completely redesigned 2017 Subaru Impreza then feel free to come give us a visit at Bertera Subaru in West Springfield to test drive or even purchase your very own 2016 model. For more information on pre-ordering or getting your hands on a 2017 Subaru Impreza please contact us.

The New Premium Interior

Subaru has gone above and beyond when it comes to their newly-designed interior for the 2017 Impreza. New premium materials are being used for the soft-touch interior. Many reviewers have already expressed their excitement about Subaru’s new premium interior. It’s a premium feature for an economic price, what more could you want in a vehicle?

Subaru Eyesight Updates

Lane Keep Assist will be available in the 2017 Impreza. What does Lane Keep Assist do exactly? It uses a number of sensors and cameras to keep your vehicle in-between the two lines that make up your lane. The feature will lightly nudge you back into your own lane should you begin veer. Blind Spot Detection is another new feature available on the 2017 Impreza. A small indicator light on your mirror will light up when a vehicle is in that pesky blind spot. High Beam Assist and Steering Responsive Headlights are two more new features added the Impreza’s impressive Eyesight lineup.

Android Auto & Apple Carplay

Plenty of manufacturers are making their infotainment systems compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay for a reason, it’s changing the game. If you would like the control of your phone while driving in comfort this is the option for you. Apple Carplay and Android Auto give you the control of your phone on your infotainment screen. This includes navigation, voice calls, and much more. For more information on Android Auto and Apple Carplay and which one might be right for you please click here.
