Everything from aerodynamics to the new tech included in the 2017 Nissan GT-R has been updated for this model year. You may not be able to spot the changes immediately as the look of the vehicle is generally the same, it’s what was changed under the hood that really matters. Find out more about the 2017 Nissan GT-R in the video below from our friends over at The Motor Trend Channel.

If that wasn’t enough for you check out some of the key features of the brand new 2017 Nissan GT-R below.

Exterior

REDESIGNED REAR END
The GT-R’s rear end has been elongated on the sides to redirect the air away from the end of the bumper, keeping hot gases away, to assist in cooling the exhaust.

NEW SIDE SKIRTS AND C-PILLAR
When air is drawn underneath the vehicle many issues may arise especially at high speeds. That is why the area around the C-Pillar has been reworked to help reduce turbulence, and to send the air flow to the end of the body.

AN UPDATED FRONT END
With the new grille and larger grille openings the key components are allowed even more airflow than before. The front end of the vehicle has been reshaped and it now directs more air to the front wheels to help reduce drag.

Interior

SEMI-ANILINE SOFT TOUCH LEATHER INTERIOR
The 2017 Nissan GT-R is available with semi-aniline soft touch leather on the door panels, center console, shift knob, and of course the seats. If you’re looking for a new world of comfort then this is definitely a must have.

Performance

ONE MAN, ONE ENGINE
Every Nissan GT-R houses a hand-built engine that was assigned to a single technician. The engine has a crest on it with the signature of the technician who hand built the engine. The engine is built in a controlled environment much like race cars are.

SHIFTING AT A WHOLE NEW LEVEL
The more a driver is forced to shift, the less time power is being delivered to the wheels. To achieve your fastest lap time take control of the GT-R’s paddle shifted 6 speed dual clutch transmission and listen as the gears change in just 0.15 seconds while in the GT-R’s performance mode, R-Mode.

NISSAN’s 565 HORSE POWER VR38 TWIN TURBO ENGINE
The engine in the 2017 Nissan GT-R was designed to put the vehicle in the same class as the super cars with less weight and much better fuel efficiency. Some call it a win-win for Nissan.

Aerodynamics

ALWAYS IN BETWEEN THE LINES
Take a close look and you can see the time and effort that was put in to redesign the front and rear end of the vehicle. The new design is meant to send more air to the front wheels to reduce drag and to prevent air from being drawn underneath the vehicle, all while keeping the exhaust cool.

REDESIGN THE RULES
One of the main reasons the GT-R sticks to the road so easily, especially at high speeds, is due to the underbody of the vehicle. Unlike your average car the GT-R’s underbody is covered by composite panels which allow more airflow to be directed towards the brakes and the rear diffuser to assist in stopping and gripping the road.

Technology

NISSANCONNECT WITH NAVIGATION AND MORE
The NissanConnect system offers a great way to stay connected while at the wheel. The 8 inch color display serves up important locations like ATMs, restaurants, and gas stations nearby. The voice guided directions will help you get where you need to be without any confusion.

THE SMARTEST KEY
Nissan’s Intelligent Key allows you to simply tap a button on your door handle to unlock and lock your door. Your keys never have to leave your pocket to enter and start the GT-R. Just get in and go!

Safety

REARVIEW MONITORING TO THE NEXT LEVEL
The available RearView Monitoring system displays what is directly behind you and it even includes a wide 180° view for an even better field of vision.

FRONT AND REAR SONAR SENSORS
When you own such a classy and expensive vehicle you don’t want it to suffer any damage. That is why the available front and rear sonar sensors aide you in parking by making a noise when you’re getting a little to close to an object.

HOW MANY AIRBAGS?
Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System provides the driver with dual stage front air bags with seat belt sensors and a passenger classification sensor. The rate at which the airbags deploy at is dependent on the crash severity and more. It is quite the complex safety system.
